There are few reasons why we need to archive our email.
- Outlook Service only has a limit of 50GB, after exceeding, you will stop receiving emails.
- As the email file gets larger, it will affect the performance of Outlook.
- You might want to keep certain files for offline purpose.
The method below is only 1 of the ways to archive, and there are several methods to do so.
Archiving email in Outlook (2013 or newer)
- Click on File at the top left corner.
- At Info tab, click Tools follow by Clean Up Old Items...
- Ensure
it is as highlighted on the screenshot, and select the date as needed. Please ensure you have selected the correct folder as shown below.
- Click on Browse... and navigate to the correct folder path(For new file) or file(To add into the file) where you intended. If you are creating a new archive file, please make sure you have gave it a recognizable name to locate it easily in future. eg(Jan-Jun2018)
- Lastly, click OK and OK again to start archiving. Archiving will run in the background.
